You have probably thought that Information Technology managers carry a heavy responsibility. With an increasingly demanding public, corporate mobility in Brazil is following a new trend.
Corporate mobility—capable of making companies and representatives instantly present anywhere, at any time, and with the ability to interact with interested parties—is taking new directions. Thanks to new tools and the awareness of Information Technology managers, experts point out that a technological turning point is taking place regarding the professional use of mobility.

Information Technology Managers and New Technologies
Currently, companies deal with progressively more demanding audiences that use every possible digital tool. “It is therefore necessary for companies to be able to know what is being said about them in order to present their arguments and/or uncover new opportunities,” clarifies the executive director of LVBA Comunicação, Flavio Valsani.
For him, in addition to consolidating this stance, it is necessary to use this extremely dynamic environment to discover their demands and meet them. “We can say that we are in a transition phase: communication actions can neither dispense with traditional media nor state-of-the-art tools?”
According to Eduardo Díaz Villagrán, mobile solutions manager at BinarioMobile, applying mobility to corporate processes generally results in a substantive improvement in team efficiency. He summarizes the goals and targets to be achieved in one word: optimization.
Whether by eliminating in-person tasks, optimizing and auditing sales representative route visits, or distributing tasks in real time to a team of technicians, you can expect relevant improvements in resource utilization efficiency.
Executives of the so-called Generation X created and developed the internet and cell phones, which created a need for these technologies. However, for Generation Y, who are now beginning to occupy leadership and management positions within organizations, access to these technologies is the bare minimum they expect.
Mobility Present in Companies
Currently, corporate IT areas must deal with an environment where employees increasingly use mobility features when checking, for example, emails via their personal smartphones. “Either you consciously create mobility-focused systems or you will have to react to the forces of the world that will push you in that direction.”
Despite growing “due to market demand,” Valsani points out that corporate mobility in Brazil faces a series of internal network access restrictions, which can be bypassed by using smartphones. Abroad, due to various examples and facilities, companies live with these new tools in a more natural way. But we will certainly get there, states the director of LVBA.
On the other hand, Eduardo Villagrán points to a more optimistic situation. “Worldwide, corporate mobility has ceased to be a strong trend and has become the new paradigm for systems implementation.”
Market analysts indicate that mobility applications were among the ten most transformative technologies for organizations to use in Information Technology between 2010 and 2012. According to Gartner [a consultancy firm], mobility is projected to be the fourth highest technological priority for CIOs in Latin America in 2011.
For Eduardo Villagrán, the technological turning point came with the arrival of smartphones. They are not yet used massively in the corporate environment, but the turning point coming now is not technological; it is procedural.
Corporate Mobility Scenario in Brazil
The favorable scenario in Brazil is mainly due to the fact that companies are more aware of the concept of corporate mobility. The big challenge is to determine exactly which business need is being met. The CIO needs to balance this with intelligence. Flavio Valsani explains that there is still a long way to go, but that a profound shift in attitude among IT managers can be noticed.
For him, it is necessary to harmonize different needs, such as internal security and bandwidth capacity, with corporate mobility needs. “On the other hand, they [managers] know that internet access via smartphones will increasingly grow, for example, which implies adapting tools to professional needs.”
Conclusion
LVBA Comunicação’s latest service enables interaction between physical and virtual pieces through an application available for practically all smartphone models with a camera and 3G connection.
BEE TAGG, the evolution of the traditional barcode and QR code, features a square format, ideal for reading by cameras integrated into cell phones. Thanks to this upgrade, besides providing the price and batch of a particular product, the system also offers differentiated and strategic content for both the consumer and the company.
Full reading of the 2D code is done via software installed on the cell phone. This code is what customizes the BEE TAGG. Thus, you are directed to content hosted on a website, social community, or YouTube channel, for example.
Therefore, this new system works as a sort of hyperlink, uniting and complementing the content displayed on printed material, such as a banner, with broad digital content that can include videos, text, and an infinite amount of information related to the theme, explains Flavio Valsani.
Among its various applications, the service is an excellent alternative for campaigns that require a security system with encrypted data transfer, such as promotions, voting, and coupons.
