4 internal marketing actions to use in your company

Internal marketing is the subdivision of marketing specialized in working on the company’s image with its internal customer — that is, it seeks to improve communication and relations between the company and all its employees.

Therefore, internal marketing sits on the border between marketing and HR, having a direct impact on the work environment climate, team motivation, and productivity. In today’s post, we will present four internal marketing actions that you can customize and use in your company! Shall we?

Institutional Climate Survey

This is definitely the first of the internal marketing actions your company should perform. The action is similar to the satisfaction survey carried out with your customers, but aimed at internal customers.

The collection of information regarding the institutional climate must be carried out frequently — at least once or twice a year — to ensure consistent monitoring of its evolution.

Customize this survey to encompass subjects that you think need to be further explored in dialogue with your team. You can focus on communication between the company, managers, and employees, for example — or expand the scope and research topics such as satisfaction with company facilities and even salary averages.

Bonus: Learn how to improve your company’s results with internal communication

Creation of a Corporate TV

The company newsletter is, among internal marketing actions, the most traditional one. It serves as a way to inform employees of important facts, breaking the communication barrier between departments. However, in the digital age, few people actually read newspapers.

A very interesting alternative is Corporate TV. This literally means placing televisions in strategic locations around the company: the reception, the cafeteria, the break room. The content displayed on this Corporate TV can be completely customized. The cost of this option is medium, due to the necessary equipment, but it is highly viable and guarantees better results in terms of internal communication.

For content display, most companies – for reasons of practicality – opt for a simple panel format, similar to a PowerPoint presentation. However, it is also possible to produce videos, a much more dynamic and attractive format for the internal community. When creating content for your Corporate TV, all employees can suggest topics, ensuring the relevance of what is displayed.

Lectures and Trainings

This is one of the internal marketing actions that “kills two birds with one stone.” At the same time that it improves the company’s image with internal customers, lectures and trainings also translate into benefits for the company itself — the more qualified the team, the better the work performed.

These lectures and trainings can range from motivation and productivity to technical knowledge about the products the company offers — there can even be training on the company’s corporate culture. Managers should use their creativity to create completely unique material, or hire good specialists to organize the activities.

Development of a Benefits Package

Every company is required by law to offer benefits such as meal vouchers and transportation vouchers, for example. However, internal customers value the company that offers additional benefits, especially when these aim at quality of life.

Some good examples are partnerships with gyms and language schools, the development of activities such as workplace gymnastics, and the implementation of a good rest and leisure room in the company. The best way to determine which benefits interest your company’s employees is to return to the first item and conduct a survey directly with them.

Internal marketing actions are one of the most efficient tools for employees to have a positive image of the company. And they are the company’s business card — those who truly represent your brand to the customer are the salespeople, the cleaning staff, the collections team, the logistics staff. Ensuring they are satisfied is therefore a way to also ensure customer satisfaction.
