Qualification is a key piece for industrial workers

According to data from the National Industry Confederation (CNI), by 2025, Brazil will need to qualify around 9.6 million industrial workers. The demand for professionals in this sector is only bound to grow; as indicators point out, 497,000 new job openings will be created in industries.

In this context, it is necessary to take into account that everything is migrating to the digital environment, including leisure, study activities, and especially work. Speaking specifically about the industry, this new scenario demands adaptations from professionals.

So, if you are in this field, you need to specialize in manufacturing technologies. Keep reading and discover how qualification can be the key piece for industrial workers!

What are the challenges for industrial workers?

The industry has long been moving towards the reality of smart manufacturing, with some experts even talking about the 5.0 era. In this new reality, the production chain is managed by data, which is obtained through technology.

It is worth noting that the role of professionals remains crucial, but it is more focused on activities such as:

  • Information management;
  • Monitoring of the production chain;
  • Risk analysis and production bottlenecks;
  • Search for improvements.

Which segments have the highest volume of opportunities?

According to CNI research, the professions with the highest demand are those applicable to various areas, such as occupational safety technicians, metrologists, and research and development support technicians.

The Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina (FIESC) identified that there are many opportunities for industrial workers in segments focused on science, technology, and engineering. Learn more about these areas:

Technology

The study Emerging Professions in the Digital Era found that technology-related professions in industry will account for about 767.5 thousand job opportunities over the next 10 years.

This is because professions transform along with operating systems, making positions increasingly common such as:

  • Digital Operator;
  • Electronic unit programmer;
  • Robotic process technician, among others.

To give an idea of the number of open opportunities in this area, it is estimated that in 2023, Brazil will have 39.4 thousand professionals trained as Digital Operators. However, the demand for this role is 345 thousand, an 89% deficit.

Science and Sustainability

Technology and science go hand in hand, especially when we talk about direct-to-consumer industrial segments, such as cosmetics, food, and cleaning products, for example.

The public is increasingly looking for products that are sustainable and less harmful to health, and in this context, there is a large niche for scientists in industry.

Another factor impacting the demand for this type of professional is the use of data intelligence. A Linkedin survey identified the professions with the most opportunities in Brazil, and the Data Scientist position ranks 9th.

Engineering

Within engineering, one of the rising demands is the field of mechatronics, that is, engineering focused on the design of automated electromechanical systems controlled by computers.

Also in this context, related to sustainability, the demand for environmental engineers is growing.

What are the main qualification levels?

It is worth noting that the increase in the search for industrial workers varies depending on the professionals’ qualification level. Read more below:

  • Professionals with less than 200 hours of specialization: 208 thousand new openings
  • Professionals with more than 200 hours of specialization: 64 thousand new openings
  • Professionals with Technical level: 136 thousand new openings
  • Professionals with Higher Education level: 90 thousand new openings

Therefore, if you work in the industrial segment, it is essential to seek improvement in technology-related matters. Market changes are constant, but you can start by looking for courses and trainings that help you enter this field.
