Systemic Vision: Strategies to Implement It in Your Company

The level of competitiveness in today’s market has demanded deep knowledge from leaders and managers. The outdated model of single-area specialist professionals is now giving way to a new profile, much more based on diverse knowledge across different areas of the company.

In this context, the systemic vision of the company emerges as a differentiating characteristic for professionals. Leaders, in turn, need this attribute because it allows for a more accurate analysis in complex situations and safer decision-making consistent with the needs of the company as a whole.

Want to know a little more about systemic vision and how this concept can determine more efficient business management? Then continue reading this post!

What is the company’s systemic vision based on?

As the name suggests, systemic vision is the ability to understand how the company works as a system. It is the capacity to visualize operations and strategies in an integrated manner rather than in a fragmented way.

This is one of the desirable attributes of a CEO, as it is an efficient way to align with current business dynamics, where leaders need to be well-informed about various points of the company and, more than that, need to opine and quickly decide on changes and adjustments in activities to maintain operational excellence.

What is necessary for the development of this vision?

Systemic vision is like a capacity to be developed. Professional experience at the helm of a company contributes to the enhancement of this vision, since familiarity with the business, detailed knowledge, and mastery of all points of the company greatly assist in improving processes.

Therefore, in addition to having a systemic vision, the leader must encourage this characteristic in their employees, motivating them based on greater autonomy, as well as adopting postures such as:

Thinking macro with a focus on processes, not departments

By focusing on processes, the diminished view of the company—divided into static departments with specific functions—is eliminated. Visualizing processes and not just departments allows one to understand the global dynamics of the company, where everything is part of a large integrated system that communicates.

Seeking improvements from end to end in processes

Systemic vision requires that any type of decision be planned from “end to end.” That is, one must seek improvements in processes as a whole, encompassing all their stages and not just specific points.

After all, an organization works like multiple gears, so it is useless to improve just one of them if the results depend on the entire set.

Seeking the root cause of problems

Once again, the idea of integrated processes is present: when identifying an inconsistency in the company’s operation, the origin must be sought based on an in-depth analysis of the processes, avoiding making superficial judgments and pointing fingers.

When we talk about a process flow, the point where the problem is identified is not always the point that caused it.

Knowing how to self-evaluate

Each member of the company must be able to understand their role in the macro context, as well as understand the relevance of their function and work to offer their maximum.

Understanding the role of technology in expanding business vision

Management systems, ERPs, customized software, and automation are some clear examples of how companies already have alternatives to optimize the collection, storage, and especially the integration and use of data and information relevant to the business.

Based on the integration promoted by these systems, leaders have full support to proceed with their analyses and, from them, make decisions with much more reliability.

Finally, having a systemic vision of the company, as we have seen, is important for leaders and managers to have a broader and deeper knowledge of everything that makes up the business. Thus, management becomes more complete and efficient.
