The fourth industrial revolution, or industry 4.0, refers to integrating technology into industrial activity processes. This adherence to the use of technologies in factories shows visible benefits, especially in moments like the crisis we experienced in 2020.
According to a survey by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI), conducted with 509 companies, factories that use industry 4.0 strategies face the challenges caused by the pandemic more smoothly.
Among industries with deployed technologies, 54% reported having a profit equal to or greater than the pre-pandemic period. While this percentage is 47% for industries that do not use technology in their processes.
Technology in industrial activity
Another indicator from the CNI survey showed that the more technological solutions for industry 4.0 companies adopt, the more capable they will be to face unexpected events impacting their production chain. This is because when work is done manually, it becomes harder to plan production taking unforeseen points of influence into account, unlike digital simulations, for example.
Technology comes to facilitate industrial activity, as these manual processes that tend to be time-consuming and error-prone become automated. In addition, the use of production management and planning solutions reduces the possibility of communication failures during processes, because the steps are guided by the tool and not just by information passed from person to person.
A Zion survey pointed out that computer-aided industries will show strong growth in the coming years. Therefore, to stay one step ahead of the competition, it is necessary to digitize processes and stay informed about market news and trends growing in the industrial sector.
